Glass ionomer cement is a high strength base used primarily for permanent cement, as a base, and as a Class V filling material. It is used as a substitute of GC 1. So it is also called Blue Glass Type 1
1- Hard solid and true glass ionomer cement.
2- A glass ionomer cement is a dental restorative material used in dentistry as a filling material.
3- They are supplied as a powder and a liquid that is mixed with water.
4- For optimal bonding, the tooth surface should be conditioned with polyacrylic acid before application of the cement.
